Joe's Pub | Max Vernon's The Tattooed Lady | Sept. 25th
I am FLIPPING MY ISH to be singing at Joe's Pub to share music from Max Vernon's new musical, The Tattooed Lady. Guest appearances include Tonya Pinkins, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Annie Golden, MJ Rodriguez, and more! Max Vernon (3 time Drama Desk nominee, Lucille Lortel Award Winner for Best Musical, Jonathon Larson Grant Recipient, ETC) is best known for his work writing/composing The View From Upstairs and KPOP. Max Vernon, on The Tattooed Lady: "Spanning roughly one hundred years of forgotten history, The Tattooed Lady is a musical meditation on beauty, perversity, shattering of taboos, and a woman’s right to control her body and choose her destiny. The score for The Tattooed Lady will be composed primarily on saw, wine glass, pipe organ, vibraphone, cello, accordion, and toy piano, evoking a carnivalesque world that is child-like, whimsical, and haunting. The visual landscape of the play will endeavor to translate the intimate (a viper tattoo on a woman’s knee) into the epic (a ten foot tall puppet viper taking over the stage)..." Come out to Joe's Pub on September 25th and hear the music (and see MANY fabulous blazers designed by Max himself). This concert is the first in a series of three showcasing Vernon's music, and special guests (Broadway Stars and Downtown Divas alike!) are to be announced soon. Stay tuned, and get your tickets!
